Obtaining a Plot

If you are a bona fide resident of the Center City Residents' Association area (the area encompassed by the North side of South Street, the West side of Broad Street, the South side of John F. Kennedy Boulevard and the Schuylkill River in the City of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), you may obtain a plot in the SRPCG through one of two ways:

1.   All but five plots are reserved for CCRA resident members and are leased annually, renewable by gardeners in good standing for up to six years. At the end of six years, the gardener gives up his/her plot and returns to the waiting list. To join the waiting list, contact CCRA at 215-546-6719 (or by mail, 1616 Walnut Street, Suite 705, Philadelphia, PA 19103) to become a member and once your membership is processed, ask to be placed on the “garden waiting list.” You must remain a CCRA member during your entire tenure on the waiting list and in the garden. Lapses in membership while on the waiting list will result in removal from the list.

2.   Five plots are reserved for non-members of CCRA and these are awarded by lottery each spring (in February or March) for a one year term. If you are a resident of the CCRA area and would like to obtain a non-member plot, please send a postcard with your name, address, phone number, and your desire to enter the lottery drawing to: CCRA, 1616 Walnut Street, Suite 705, Philadelphia, PA 19103.

The waiting list may be inspected online at any time on the Garden's Section of the CCRA website (to protect confidentiality, initials are posted rather than full names). The administrative offices of the CCRA maintain the official waiting list, the online version of which is updated approximately once per month.

Waiting list members are offered the opportunity to plant tomatoes in our tomato trials and assist with the Parkside Plantings. For more information on these opportunities, please contact the garden Steering Committee.
